- Bar Scene Simulation Will NOT Help Fight Alcoholism-
Scientists at the University of Houston have created a virtual reality bar simulation to assist alcoholics in building the skills including the ability to turn down a drink. The subject dons a virtual reality helmet that offers a 360 view and the sounds of the simulated environment and another machine even provides relevant smells to complete the experience.
"You walk out by smokers (in the virtual world), you smell cigarette smoke," Bordnick said. "You walk up to the bar and order a beer, the beer is poured and set up on the bar, and you smell beer." ~ Bar Scene Simulation May Help Fight Alcoholism
