A Revealing Review

StumbleUpon, is a web browser plug-in that allows you to see sites other people have discovered and also enables you to recommend and review them if you so please. You can go about it in two ways, by using the tool bar you can browse randomly through general topics, or you can look at active stumblers and see what they have recommended. The Junky’s Wife turned me onto the site about a month ago and I must say I have really enjoyed looking at all the informative, weird, and sometimes just plain disturbing sites that people dig up on the internet. I have had a few people review The Discovering Alcoholic, most just brief words of encouragement, but today I had a rather blistering review from a foul-mouthed drug advocate that urges all druggies to rise up against my obvious "persecution?" of their lifestyle.

In addition to finding his attacks humorous, I also found them rather revealing in the sense that he feels my support of recovery somehow threatens his lifestyle choice. He seems rather paranoid suggesting that my browsing his sparse site for all of fifteen seconds without leaving comment or content somehow represents me pushing my “abstinent views” on him.

He is paranoid, myopic, defensive, and just plain offensive… I can think of no better revealing review from a drug user to promote a recovery site. It represents everything I was when I drank and everything I strive not to be in my recovery. So here’s to the stoner representing his kind well and for giving me a very revealing review!

Click “Read more” to see the review but beware it is less than polite and R rated…

I would really like it if all you 420 fans, would let this self righteous prick know what harm we do,apart from forgetting a few things and maybe falling asleep when you shouldn't..........This is how I replied. Why don't you go fuck yourself with an empty bottle of pepsi. How dare you contact me and push your abstinent views upon me.I know that you are american and that your country would like to impose it's warped values upon the whole planet, but as far as I'm aware, you haven't taken over the world just yet.You go to church on Sunday and have a good time worshiping a god that intelligent people know does not exist. You live in your insular world where other people's wishes count for nothing. You vote in another dictator that bombs innocent women and children in the name of "What's right". You go fuck yourself while I harm nobody but myself and smoke some grass. You epitomize your warped nation's values. Why the fuck do you americans think you have the right to put your nose into everyones business?YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT SO FUCK OFF AND DIE. Do everyone a favour and stumble sites that you are interested in instead of ones that you have an opinion about.

Oh my goodness...paranoid is putting it politely. What does he mean by "contacting him"--last time I checked, StumbleUpon was random and the surfer picked the topics. Actually, I too found this site by using StumbleUpon, and I am glad I did. To each his own, and I hope this guy gets the help he so obviously needs. Norma

when you visit someone else's stumble, that person can see your avatar and that you browsed their site. Apparently this guy is so paranoid that because I browsed his page for fifteen seconds without leaving any content or comment, that this somehow constitutes me forcing my views on him. So he tracks down my avatar, contacts me through the contact page in an equally abusive e-mail, signs up on my blog, and reviews my site with this tripe... and blames me for contacting him! HaHa, that is just too rich.

You are right, he needs help. He also makes a great spokesman for the drug culture... asinine, rude, paranoid, belligerent, abusive, out-of-touch and in this case just plain wrong.

I haven't had a bad Stumble experience yet, and I'm sorry you did. I guess that's what we're asking for when we put our stuff out there for public consumption...I've been struggling with the Anonymous Comment Bandid on my own site, and I've come to accept it...and to fight against it with my comment policy!

I have enjoyed watching this guy make a fool of himself. Like I said he makes a great 420 posterchild when at age 37 he resorts to middle-school personal attacks.

Maybe screaming obscenities and abuse from across the ocean through the filtered anonymity of the Internet somehow makes him feel man enough to get over his obvious insecurities and paranoia. Who knows, maybe this rant kept him from abusing a kitten or something and therefore I have served an even higher purpose!

There are actually some fairly well spoken and moderate voiced individuals out there that can make a good argument for legalization (I still don't agree), but this guy is obviously not one of them.

OK,you all have your opinion about me which is fair enough and I'm sure that you all have an opinion about stoners in general.I apologise for my foul mouthed tirade.I do not make any excuse for my behavior but I would just like to point something out to you all.My angry response to tdalcoholics stumble was not because I was stoned,it was because I was drunk.Alcohol is the most evil drug on the planet yet legal and readily available in most of the world. It brings out the worst in me for sure.If I had contacted you whilst stoned,I would probably have thanked you for such a great site(I dare say it wouldn't have made much sense to you but I would've known that I was trying to be nice).I find it totally ironic that a drug that makes people aggressive and violent is socially acceptable, but a drug that sooths and pacifies is socially unacceptable, and in most country's against the law.
Again,I would like to stress that I'm not offering this up as an excuse, but as an explanation. Please don't slam stoners because of my actions while I was drunk.Stoners really do love the world, drinkers want to kill the world.
I would like to apologise to you all if I have offended you.I would also like to say sorry to all the stoners that I have misrepresented by my angry, alcohol induced rant.
Marajuana was naturally created on this planet by evolution or by whatever God you choose to believe in,alcohol was made by man.Who or what do you trust?
Sorry again.
PS.I couldn't abuse a kitten if I tried whilst stoned,I could drown and then spit roast one if I was drunk.

I will even agree with you that I too feel that alcohol has a much greater negative effect on society than marijuana (doesn't change my opinion on legalization).

I have tired of the legalization debate in other forums mainly because both sides can make legitimate claims, but if you ever have the desire to write about your personal experience with alcohol I hope you would consider posting it at TDA.

My present relapse has lasted 5 years.thankyou,i realise that i am powerless against my addiction.

I'm wondering if this guy was completely baked out of his mind when he wrote this. He probably sat there typing away, thinking he was coming up with some real ground-breaking stuff. I wonder if he has read it since and has realized what a Jackass he made himself sound like.

I like how he thinks that you should not stumble any sites that you have an opinion about. That makes perfect sense...doesn't it?
